Nowadays, it is difficult to imagine or rather impossible to think about a life without social media. We are living in the 21st century, and all human beings are connected through all forms of social media such as Instagram, Meta, WhatsApp and numerous other platforms. But back in the 19th century there was no such thing as phone or laptops or internet just a simple form of communicating that was a handwritten letter. During the medieval period, people visited each other, there was no such thing as making your food Instagram-worthy or posting your “Outfit of the day”. Also, an important thing to mention is that the English Language was a language and not some words abbreviated together. And I am sure that the level of concentration during that time was much better than today’s generation because we are used to now videos of less than 30 seconds or less which has affected our minds in a more or less negative way. Children of that period were innocent, played outside, made friends, and lived a simpler life than today’s generation who do not like to go outside because they will get sunburned, knowing what is going on in the pop world rather than learning what was taught in school and acting twice their age.
But at the same time, social media has helped us in many ways, which was not possible in the past, like giving livelihood to millions of people online, giving voice to people to fight against the evils of society and so much more.
To conclude, I would encourage people to use social media in such a way that it would help us grow and foster human connections rather than inhibit them.
